Airport as Inhabited Architecture
Expectations of an airport are limited to efficiency; locations of the airport are always on the periphery, perception of the flight is mostly a form of transitory misery. Although air travel has been mainstreamed, the gateway of an urban center has yet to established itself as a new typology for being economically, environmentally productive and being a meaningful connection to the city center that give an immediate sense of the place. This thesis aims at questioning the accepted mode of travelling, re-positioning the infrastructure that facilitates it, making the airport an embedded part of the city experience. Rather than remaining as a transitory unidirectional point, the airport could be a multi-functional destination.
