abstract

Architects design to seek for specific atmospheres; fairytales lie on the fact that, whilst being simple stories, they often enclose powerful philosophical messages whose ultimately aim to trigger reflection upon different aspects of human nature. They are stories tend to feature a fantasy to its viewers, which often hold a parallelism with or are connected to the reality.

The thesis aims to base on a spatial interpretation of a (a series of/a specific) fairytale, which can lead to the consideration of a ‘dual world’ – the fantasy and reality. It also aims to explore the intimate relationship between the domestic structure of fairytales and the imaginative realm of architecture.
