Metabolic Housing

When we talk about architectural design, we always take human as the service object. We map how the pedestrian circulates, we consider how the spacial experience feels, we imagine how human activities happen; however, when we come to the housing project, the piece of architecture that we spend most of the time in, we see the inhumane way of design.

While all apartments are with same compartments as if come out from the same assembly line, families live in them do have their different needs and economic capability. Besides, needs also change within the same family along with the birth of new members or with the aging process.

Inspired by Metabolism, I would like to seek a way to develop a new housing type with metabolic units to accommodate the changing demands of families along the time and to also make housing much more personalized.
