Returning public housing to Hong Kong

The history of public housing in Hong Kong goes back to 1950s, and over the years the government has been trying hard provide better living environment for the Hongkong people, the changes in housing strategy, the experimentation on housing typology and etc. However, the reality is this poetic planning of the government has proving to be a pathetic development. (pic 1) the main problem here is that those housing project are disconnected from the life of the Hongkong people. The street life and the active community is what gives us the sense of belonging, as well as the vitality of the district. (pic 2) My thesis would experiment on public housing in smaller scale development in local settings, to find out the possibility of creating a real Hongkong public housing.
