Proposal 1 Homeless Sunday

About 3000,000 foreign housekeepers are working in Hong Kong and most of them are living in their employers’ house. Sundays are their day off, and these domestic helpers usually spend the day outside, whatever the weather and season. Some spaces are popular for these people such as the public area under HSBC building, and the overpasses in central. Maids gather around with pillows and blankets, eating, singing and laughing for the whole Sunday.

The area they have to stay every Sunday is absolutely not in an ideal living condition. Meanwhile the random gathering of these people brings traffic inconvenience to other passerby. What an architect can do upon this situation will be one of my concern for the thesis.

Proposal 2 Urban – Rural Hiking Rest Station

Another proposal is coming from my personal experience of hiking from North Point to Stanley. It was a great satisfaction to cross the HK Island. But when we walked outside the Lo Fu Shan Catch Water path, the staircase directly lead us to the Stanley Gap Road, which has no pedestrian and all the vehicles passed so fast. We have to walk along this dangerous road for a long time until found pedestrian. What I would like to propose here is something connecting hiking road and the safe area for the hikers.

"Road

If possible, I will also study other hiking routes in HK, and hope to provide more convenience and safety for hikers.
